THE BARE FACTS
FACT No. 1: The term, alumni, embraces all who have earned
a high school diploma or its equivalent and have attended a
Cleveland public school for at least one school year.
FACT No. 2: The All-City Alumni ACTION Team always
includes other concerned persons.
FACT No. 3: The GRADSNET 1000 program is the only major
school/community program that was created for the GradsNet
Foundation and is being supported by the ACTION Team.
FACT No. 4: The GRADSNET 1000 program is also the only
program from which all other GradsNet Foundation programs
and projects have been created.
FACT No. 5: It is because of the existence of the
GRADSNET 1000 program that the following accomplishments
have been made during the first 12-year history of the GradsNet
Foundation:
(a) 45 school teams, 14 alumni associations and groups, and
68 businesses and community groups (1 or more years)
(b) 8,950 student award winners (includes 1,452 Top 20 ‘A’
Team winners, 124 GradsNet Scholars, 63 Stokes’ Scholars)
(c) 2,559 volunteers logged (includes 193 Distinguished Vital
Volunteers), 122,134 hours logged
FACT No. 6: The angelfish was established as the ACTION
Team’s mascot along with the slogan “An Ocean of Angelfish”
(since they, too, travel in schools of fish to protect their young).
FACT No. 7: The GradsNet Hall of Fame was developed by
our dearly beloved, deceased friend, Shirley Hawk. A first
grand team of 118 outstanding Cleveland alumni and educators
(including Shirley) now exists for students to emulate.
FACT No. 8: There is always something for everyone to
do for Cleveland’s children. Our ACTION Team work here will
never cease. Therefore, it is imperative that we keep in mind
the kind and loving words of our CEO, James F. Spence:
IT’S NOT ABOUT ME! IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU!
IT’S ABOUT THE CHILDREN!
